WAR IN UKRAINE: April 15, 2022
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS: Day 51
I’m riding the rails today in eastern Ukraine today. Check back frequently here and on social media to see my updates.
Below: repair crew from Ukrzaliznytsia restoring the rail line between Kyiv and Chernihiv after it was bombed in early March with a Russian missile. In the foreground are two immobilized Russian APCs. Tomorrow (April 16, 2022), the railway company will re-start passenger services between Kyiv and Chernihiv, which was cut-off completely from the outside world for many days in March due to Russian bombardment.
In Chernihiv, which was under siege for many days in March and very heavily damaged, I asked residents what was the main thing they wished for. The answer: ‘peace and a roof over our heads.’
