US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has confirmed communication channels between Washington and Moscow remain open. It comes as the White House refuses to deny reports that Mr Sullivan has been leading talks with Russia to prevent a nuclear escalation in Ukraine. Speaking in New York, Mr Sullivan said it was "in the interests" of the US to maintain contact with the Kremlin. But he insisted officials were "clear-eyed about who we are dealing with” - BBC
Reznikov: NASAMS and Aspide air defense systems arrive in Ukraine. Ukraine has received long-anticipated Western air defense systems to shoot down "enemy targets" more effectively, according to Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov. "These weapons will significantly strengthen the Ukrainian army and will make our skies safer," Reznikov said on Nov. 7 - Kyiv Independent
The Economist: 'Arrangements already made' for Iran to supply Russia with missiles. Tehran and Moscow have reached an agreement for Iranian Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar missiles to be delivered by air to annexed Crimea and by sea to Russian ports in the Caspian, The Economist wrote, citing Ukrainian military intelligence and other officials. "We know arrangements are already made," Vadym Skibitskiy, deputy head of Ukrainian military intelligence, told The Economist.
As Ukraine pursues its counteroffensive in Kherson and Russia forcibly relocates tens of thousands of people, those living in the southern region have said the occupying authorities are terrorising anyone who defies them. Residents of Skadovsk, a Black Sea port of some 15,000 inhabitants, told the Financial Times that people were being jailed and having their possessions confiscated for speaking out against their Russian occupiers.
